10 Rs Coins

National Institute of Design (NID) has designed this 10 Rs coin. It is made up of stainless steel and nickel-bronze as a security measure against counterfeit coins. The weight of the coin would be 8 grams and the diameter would be 28 mm.

The coins are being minted at mainly Noida and Mumbai mint. Coins worth Rs.70 million was already stored in its stock till August 2008. NID has designed this in such a way that it is compatible with automated vending machines and other coin-operated machines and it is also disabled-friendly.
